This will be the only Anime-related podcast review I will do, since I despite Anime so much. Putting that aside, I found the podcast to be quite well-done, even if it was done (in the episode I listened to, anyway) in a busy place in the middle of the street (seemingly in Japan). The speaker, although pausing with the occasional "uh" or "um", seemed to know what he was talking about quite well, and had a lot to say. He also did a bit of chatting about where he was and what he was seeing as he gave reviews on the fly. I know it is difficult to concentrate while things are happening around one, especially when it is noisy. For the episode I heard, I give it a 6.5 (although that may not reflect the podcast as a whole).

Futhermore, going back to an old review of The Overnightscape, due to a mistype, I set the rating at 7, while I meant for it to be at 8. My mistake, Frank.

You rub my back and I'll rub yours - Frank Edward Nora read the review I posted about his podcast, and hearing his replies in The Overnightscape #523 has renergized my love for reviewing and keeping this website current. As a result, expect me to start podcast reviews, add another art article, and write another story chapter within the next couple of days (the story ideas are piling up). Futhermore, I'll try to post more in the Blog section, perhaps even some of the sardonic articles I used to enjoy making.

I have decided not to review podcasts in this section. Instead it, like the Stories section, will be dedicated to my work only (however poor and long in-between that work may be).

I have finally begun a personal podcast (a start, anyway) concerning religion and how it cannot/should not be trusted. Any suggestions or comments are much-appreciated, and I appologize for the poor audio quality in this podcast. Hopefully they will sound better in the future.

I plan to use PodcastPickle as my source of random podcasts that I will review here (only one per day at most). Since it is currently under construction, I will find a few podcasts that I know of and review them over the next few days, instead.

The Overnightscape with Frank Edward Nora

I really had no choice but to review The Overnightscape, since I have long been a fan of it (even if I haven't always had time to listen). The Overnightscape mostly consists of the host, Frank Edward Nora, discussing recent events in his life and the lives of those around him (sometimes ranging as far as to discuss recent news) every weekday in a 30-minute-per-day podcast. He will often do beverage or food reviews, and sometimes will even sample pipe tobacco. He is an expert at seeming to talk with the listener, instead of to the listener, making the experience quite entertaining and enjoyable. Unfortunately, he is prone to knocking things over, awkward pauses, and other problems, but overall I give him a rating of 8 as a general podcast, which is very admirable. After all, we all make mistakes.

Sporepod on Sporesite

Petreak (Myspace) made a news article on Sporesite partially concerning Sporepod on Sporesite, and even added a direct link to the Sporesite podcast article I posted.

In other news, I have, thanks to a friend (JDBradshaw), come across PowerGramo, a free program that SHOULD allow me to record the Skypecasts directly (versus needing to route things around via Virtual Audio Cables and other software that causes my voice levels to drop. The Sporepod may become a weekly Sunday thing, although that still has yet to be confirmed. As for a non-Spore-related, I have yet to decide when, what, and how to do it, so stay tuned for updates.

Sporepod - Episode 1: Beginnings

Today Petreak, Cottagecheese, and I got together on Skype and did the first Sporepod podcast. Hopefully it is fairly well-accepted. I realize that it's hardly a professional job, but I think that it turned out pretty good, considering that it's a first try at a podcast. Hopefully I'll pause and make thinking noises (um, uh, etc.) less in the future. Background music ripped from the continuous SomaFM stream, Space Station Soma (official website). Someday is Sunday

Looks like the podcast will be recorded on Sunday, although the exact time is still being decided upon. I made a new thread in the Spore Site forums asking anyone who is interested in participating to contact me and then I will get back to them with the details of the Ventrilo server.

Oncoming...

If a planned event on the Sporesite forums is properly coordinated, I as well as a few other Spore fans will be getting together in a Ventrilo server on a date that has yet to be decided upon. This will probably be the turning point at which I will begin reguarly (or at least fairly regular) podcasting. Chances are I will host a copy of the Ventrilo discussion, as long as it goes well and isn't just a bunch of mindless banter (as most Ventrilo conversations become).
